This means framing with available dimensions and lengths and accepting character marks, bolt and nail holes, notches and the seasoning checks that result from being air -dried for many years. Pressure washing and brushing can clean up the surfaces while allowing the original character to remain.
Vintage lumber and timbers can also effectively be re-milled with a sawn, planed, or surfaced appearance to your specifications. Re-milling can accomplish several things:
1.) The underlying aged patina and grain become more exposed
2.) Most sawn or planed surfaces will be more uniform even though some character marks may remain
3.) Specific dimensions can be created as necessary. You can usually tailor your order to an application.
